A desinformação e misinformação na retórica da guerra das direitas estadunidenses (1983-2016)

RESUMO

Desde a corrida eleitoral que sagrou Donald Trump como presidente dos Estados Unidos, os termos Pós-verdade, Fake News e Desinformação estamparam pesquisas e reportagens e tornaram-se familiares. Porém, suas criações e principalmente adoções são observáveis em momentos anteriores. Este artigo procura demonstrar como a desinformação – e a adoção de retóricas paranoicas – fez parte essencial da política de guerra adotada por políticos republicanos nos Estados Unidos, desde os anos 1980 até 2016. Para isso nos baseamos no trabalho de Antonio Reyes-Rodríguez – sobre a construção retórica da guerra ao terror de Bush – e aplicamos suas observações em discursos presidenciais de Donald Reagan e George W. Bush, e em defensores da Donald Trump, como Alex Jones e Richard Spencer. Com isso visamos demonstrar como o uso de desinformação e a paranoia política é parte constante da retórica republicana da guerra, sendo adotada em contextos diferentes com propósitos diferentes, partindo de uma “guerra santa” contra o “império do mal”, até uma “guerra civil” pela “alma da América”.
